Project: Terminal Evaluation of the Papua New Guinea UN-REDD National Programme

Details: UN-REDD national programs support countries establish optimum institutional arrangements, design MRV systems (forest monitoring and forest inventory systems), gender mainstreaming, safeguards, and climate financing mechanisms. The review noted the challenges that national programs have with the three-year time period and recommended that countries should be given a six months inception phase to allow for design adjustments, and recruitment of relevant staff.

Project: Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forests (LEAF) Lao PDR, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand

Details: Responsible for the implementation of all REDD+ and Climate change programs including LEAF. Country Programme Manager (LEAF) responsible for overall leadership in Laos. The LEAF programme was implemented between 2011 and 2015, focusing on agriculture and forest development and targeting GHG emissions reductions across the six target countries. Key outputs included developing climate change policy and tools for forest monitoring and reporting, including capacity building for forest inventory and land use change analysis based on Participatory Carbon Monitoring methods incorporating gender mainstreaming in natural resource management.

Project: Land Use and Land Cover Change Mapping Voluntary Carbon Project Development

Dates: 09/2012 – 05/2013
Details: Responsible for designing the methodology for land use analysis and modelling deforestation for the Voluntary Carbon Standard. Voluntary carbon projects form a significant source of knowledge for climate change interventions at the local level as they incorporate adaptation and mitigation measures related to forest management.
